Instagram Live streams are now viewable on the web
Now that you are likely staying at home throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, you may not be as inclined to watch live Instagram feeds on your phone… and now, you don’t need to. Users (including Engadget) have noticed that Instagram Live streams recently became viewable on the web. The encounter is familiar and supports two-person flows, but takes advantage of the extra screen space to keep remarks separate from the movie — you won’t need to deal with half of the feed being obscured by text. We’ve asked Instagram if it can share more details about the rollout.
You can’t start a broadcast from your desktop computer, so this is not a comprehensive alternative to additional web-friendly livestreaming services. It can fill a gap in the internet version of Instagram, mind you, and should come in handy for celebrities, musicians and others who wish to reach out to lovers whenever they’re stuck at home.
